This thread sounds a bit too conspiracy theory for me, however I see where the buzz is.
Staying out of the political realm, I will take my thoughts to security. RFID is not a good thing to use period. Those smart readers at the gas pump/convience store, they read your credit card's RFID tag. This is easily hacked by some one with an RFID scanner and some time. Your credit card never turns this signal off, so someone with a scanner could go through a mall and steal all of your information.
I know of a company that wanted to use RFID tags on equipement AND EMPLOYEES to see where the employees where spending their time and remove any element of fun they may be using on the clock. Privacy is a joke with those devices. Wide spread identity theft is the only thing I could see coming from any use of a national RFID system.
