I can see that sex offenders would deserve to be tagged like this (because so many of them violate their current tracking procedures), but this is just plain ridiculous. However, until they greatly-advance the technology, this chip would easily be shielded from being read by wearing clothing made with heavy metals, etc (like lead). So this cannot be a quick way to tag criminals.

I bet if the supporters cannot get a single group or a couple groups to agree being tagged without them crying "discrimination!", they'll try to tag everyone in the country so they have to comply or leave. If the government passes a law to have all citizens tagged like this without choice, I think I'll move out of the country. And I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't stand for this.
